Large travel supplier files for bankruptcy
A few days after the tragic death of the company founder Thomas Wagner, he crashed together with his co-partner Oliver Schilling in a small aircraft in Slovenia, the travel giant has filed for insolvency.
The company operates, through a network of subsidiary companies, 40 online portals, for e.g. www.fluege.de, which are now affected to a large extent by the bankruptcy. The turnover of the company, which is based in Leipzig, is well the triple-digit million range.
Financial problems for a long period?
Unister suffered from financial problems for some time and after the recent investigations, Wagner travelled to Venice to sign a credit for the company and was cheated to the tune one million euros. A significant amount of Swiss franc notes was found in the wreck and raises unexpected issues. The Saxonian Prosecutor General investigates, inter alia, fraud.
Although, according to the liquidator, operating business of the online portals is still alive, it was not immediately clear, what the bankruptcy means for the customers. The liquidator tries to resolve some open questions and searches for short-term solutions for affected customers. According to Julia Schmitz of the Verbraucherzentrale NRW the actual contracting parties are the tour operators who do not belong to the company. These are not affected by the Unister bankruptcy, but would refund in case of travel expenses any payments in advance of their clients.
Seekda severs connection to Unister platform “Ultranet”
Notwithstanding the insolvency of some subsidiaries Unister group Seekda has decided to close down the connection to the Unister Ultranet platform and thus to remove it from the channel portfolio. The reason for the shutdown is the very low number of bookings generated via Unister and therefore not worth the effort for the upcoming development of a new interface version, required by Unister . Date of shutdown is Friday, 29th of July – there are no necessary steps required for you.
If you have outstanding debts from open transactions on the Ultranet platform, contact:
